That's hilarious!:rofl::rofl: I've hated A&M forever but especially since my days at LSU. As a whole their fan base is cult-like and do have the persistent little brother syndrome. I also agree with the statement about A&M in the SEC would hurt LSU's recruting in Texas, particularly the Golden Triangle area. That was the sentiment of the A&M AD when denying LSU's request to renew the annual rivalry a few years back. He didn't want LSU to gain any more exposure/coverage or recruiting advantage in Texas.
I don't have any problem with the SEC adding teams. As long as they bring in new markets and enhances the conference. I have no problem with completion. It makes everyone better. If there is a way to genuinely improve upon something then you should do it. The "If it ain't broke don't fix it" is mentality is one of the worse rationals ever to not do something. If we followed that logic people would still be riding in horse and buggies and using the telegraph.
We can kiss regular championships goodbye if we add four contenders to the league. What do I care if the SEC makes more money?
I agree. The SEC is already the toughest conference in the nation. Why make it impossibly tough? There is such a thing as too tough.
I am a firm believer in the "if it ain't broken don't fix it" philosophy. That does not stop anyone from making genuine improvements if those improvements are deemed necessary. But you don't change something just for the sake of changing it.
Expanding the SEC would be a butthurt ugly thing to do. We already have 5 or so of the best teams in football, why would we want to jam a couple more in. Butthurt I tell you, butthurt.
aTm to the western division, florida st. to the eastern division... could work out quite well... but I do agree the SEC is already a tough task at hand now.
The Big "12" needs to completely dissolve, with the rebirth of the SWC--adding TCU and Arkansas. Texas would stay in, of course. I don't even really know wth they are thinking about bolting for? I think that's what most of the folks in Texas would really like. Of course, the Aggies were hell-bent towards joining the SEC a year ago. That @$$ whippin in Dallas put the move in a little perspective for them, though...
The biggest problem with a 16-team coference is that there would almost always be controversy surrounding the championship. The best teams might never get to play one another in the regular season or the CCG. You'd almost have to have a playoff just to determine who plays in the CG.
