Why? Who cares how big a conference is? The SEC is getting everything it wants from the bowls, the TV contracts, and is a national championship factory. Why mess with this formula?

What is magical about 16 teams? I think that they are going to be leagues with a lot of nobodies in them. That's already their problem.

Yeah I like the way things are right now. We already have the strongest conference and the most avid fan bases as it is.
It seems the SEC could benefit however with more teams, at least from a money standpoint. But really that would just be to many teams.
If it did happen however, I would be greatly saddened. We would most likely be in the same division as all the new teams and not get to play our old rivals (BAMA, Auburn, Florida, Ole miss) ever year. It would be a sad state of affairs.

I heard someone on the radio the other day say that Slive reportedly said "I can get the SEC to 16 teams in 15 minutes if I wanted/needed to, but we are not at that point yet".

    Thought that was pretty telling.

Very sad. We would be in a league of mostly strangers from the great plains and both of the cupcake teams end up in the east with our former rivals. Bad deal for LSU, who likely will oppose it.

    WEST
    OU
    OSU
    MO
    A&M
    LSU
    ARK
    MSU
    UM

    EAST
    KY
    TN
    AL
    AU
    GA
    FL
    SC
    VAN

Heard an interview with Slive a few months ago in which he seemed to say the SEC has continually evolving discussions on how to "react" to movements in other conferences. He indirectly hinted that the SEC would have "acted" to maintain its top tier status if the Big 12 would have broken up last offseason. I took that comment to mean an A&M and/or OU were being considered as possible invites.

I agree the SEC should stay at 12. Even if other conferences expand to 16 teams, there could always be a movement back to smaller conferences a decade from now. During this time, the SEC can utilize its hard earned respect to edge out other non-SEC teams for BCS championship games.

Even if the Pac-12, ACC, Big Ten went to 16, the SEC would "still" have more talented teams and greater competition with the 12 teams we have now.

If I had to choose I would rather these teams the Big 12 ones. I'd take Florida state and move Kent to the West then the rest in the east.
