Fairley will not be suspended for the Alabama game.

So now we know going forward.

    Helmet to helmet, not good.

    Helmet to spine, tis ok.

Was there ever any doubt that the SEC wouldn't act? Fairley is going to get what's coming to him eventually, and I will laugh.

I wasn't as mad about where he hit him as I was how long after he had released the ball.

Izzy is there a link to this declaration “SEC declares “Helmet to Spine Hit Ok”, or is this just your take on the fact that Fairly isn't being suspended? Regardless, we all saw it along with every other dirty hit the SOB placed on UGA’s QB Aaron Murray. It is sickening that they aren’t taking any action against this type of play. If not him specifically, at least adopting some of the NFL rules that protect against this type of play. Worse than not taking any action is the fact that the kid is being praised as the best at his position. Really, praised for absolute unnecessary hits on QB’s. Just because it isn’t against the rules doesn’t make it right, and those that will be voting for this kid to receive awards know it.

What a joke. Well we all know GA got flagged for the chop-block on him late in that game. I betting Bama's boys will get called once or twice as well.

What's worse, Chris Landry, whose opinion on football I really respect, waffled big time after a caller brought it up. Even local sports radio people are shying away from calling him a dirty player, saying it's "borderline". Danielson made excuses to the effect of "oh well sometimes it's just hard to turn it off", but he's a jackass anyway.

I can see the hesitation to call Fairley dirty if it was just a single shot, but it's been numerous cheap shots now, and nobody is interested in calling him or Chizik out on it. The sad thing is Fairley is a very good player and doesn't need to resort to that crap. But with that attitude and no enforcement from the league, he's gonna get high-lowed and have a knee taken out sooner or later.

That will be a shame, really, because I can see how the kid thinks it’s ok since there is no rule against it and no one is telling him he is wrong for doing it. To have his legs taken out from underneath him, possibly destroying him and his potential in the NFL, all because no one took the time to make it clear to him that it isn’t ok. Rather they praise him for his actions, and for that someone very well might get even for every play he has done that most would consider dirty. If you look at it that way you might feel bad should he get really injured due to someone retaliating against him for his actions.

That said, I don’t believe a word of any f’n thing I just typed. The kid knows exactly what he is doing, and as long as no one is going to tell him to stop, he will continue. Should he become injured due to retaliation by a Bama player for all his dirty hits throughout the yr, the NFL will be better off for it. They don’t need his kind there. As you put it though, he is good enough to not do the crap, he just is such a thug he chooses to.
