The "truth" from that part of the world was Urban Meyer, so Petersen can never be the truth. However, if he does seek "higher ground" in his career, Urban might allow him to be the second coming.

(Damn, I waited 10 seconds for lightning to strike me dead... nothing yet... maybe Urban's in rehab today....)

As pointed out by Red, every program has it's down period. Unfortunately for Bama it was assisted by a few bad apples. Now as for the earth righting itself in the Universe, I would say it is only good for the conference when all of the powerhouses are fighting for the top of the mountain. To think that Bama has reclaimed that spot for good would be a bit short sighted and foolish. The rivalries and competitiveness of the SEC will never allow one team to remain the captain of the conference. Enjoy your stay up there, just remember the trip back down is a painful one. Your enemies will kick you harder than you could ever expect as they start to bring you back down the ladder of success.

That was an very succinct warning. No entitlement here, and the most logical thing I've heard about this NC is to simply enjoy it. A lot of great teams have never gotten this far.

Coach Saban doesn't believe in defending titles, I like that, given this one is in the history books and no one is coming to get it. So we'll enjoy it and get ready to pursue the wild west.

The only unconditional and most discouraging aspect of all this fan expectation for me is not competing on that football field. I can't handle that. Play hard, Play smart and a football season is a ton of fun, without always coming close to the big prize every year. It's still fun to beat the rivals, blow someone out who wasn't expecting it, win the west, take an SEC title now and again, even sometimes when your not the best team, and maybe finishing the season with a big bowl win. Some of that and all of that, is more than fun, if you like football.

That is our tradition, and regardless of people's perspective, that Bama fans are spoiled rotten, they love football and they are going to support and enjoy the team I just described. Maybe to that end "the earth has tilted back" to a little more crimson.
