LSU's recent/current scheduling isn't questioned. I'd challenge ANY conferences' fan to find one tougher. The last couple of years and this one ARE the exception though, not 2012. You really feel that a team winning half of its games makes it a quality team? Even so, I wouldn't bet on most of the SEC's OOC opponents making a bowl. Florida and Bama, for example, have the following teams scheduled in addition to what you listed. In parenthesis are their 2010 records. Kent St (5-7), N. Texas (3-9), Georgia Southern (10-5), Furman (5-6), FAU (4-8), UAB (4-8). Five teams that wouldn't fit that bill, generous as it was, and we're talking just from two teams' opponents. I'd leave OOC scheduling out of any discussion to show SEC's superiority but that's just me.
I have to agree with this, If you are facing a (bowl game) teams, then IMO that is a quality game. Some more than others, obviously if they are a BCS AQ team and/or ranked than they become much more of a quality opponent. Having said that, I welcome the competition, although there are not many who want our schedule, and off the top of my head I think MAYBE 3 or 4 teams in college football would roll 12-0 #3 Oregon - Neutral Site @ #20 Mississippi St @ West Virginia - by then they will be in the top 25 - IMO #23 Florida #19 Auburn @ #2 Alabama #14 Arkansas
Any team that has a shot to beat you are a legitimate quality opponent, and any team that can string enough wins together to be bowl eligible have the talent to beat a top 25 team that is having a bad day. Hence Alabama losing to UL-Monroe. I wouldn’t either…I was saying that the ones I listed would. My point was that not only do we have to go through the gauntlet that is the SEC and play 8 conference games (majority of them are going to be ranked opponents), most teams in our conference will schedule at least one quality OOC…who cares if the others are creampuffs
The reason the SEC is without a doubt the best in all of the college football is simple... whether it's the Big 12 or the PAC, everyone hails the 50-60 pt offenses, with it's pretty passing game. Then you meet the SEC for a championship game and those pretty pass oriented offenses who everyone all boasted about, hits the brick wall known as THE SEC defense... And usually we route y'all... been that way for 7 of the last 12 years, and won't be changing anytime soon... whether it's this season or the next 2-3 seasons, LSU has several more :crystal: coming. Have y'all seen the quarterbacks we have coming in starting next season?
Here's a twist for you. Some SEC teams water down their 4 OOC opponents so they only have to win two conference games and are bowl eligible. How else ya think a conference that beats each other up so badly got 10 teams in bowl games last year? By then Auburn won't. Georgia and Miss St may not be either. Georgia opened up as underdogs vs. Boise and that's not their toughest early game imo.
Oh, I see now. So in other words there are no "bad" opponents. The Duck fans would say playing 8 conference games is an advantage since they play 9; hence, one less OOC game. Not trying to bust ya ballz, only showing how silly it can get and how it's not so cut & dry as it would seem to be on the surface. In short, anyone with sense recognizes that the SEC is the strongest so, again, who gives a phuck JUST HOW MUCH stronger we are? That's like a boxer knocking out an opponent in 6 instead of 2. Sum beyotch is knocked out all the same.
