The Southeastern Conference has consistently had the most NFL players. In the 2007 season, the SEC had 263 players on NFL rosters. The ACC had 238 players, Big Ten 234 players, Pac-10 183 players, Big 12 176 players and Big East 84 players.

    Averages
SEC - 22 players per team
    B10 - 21 players per team
ACC - 20 players per team
    P10 - 18 players per team
    B12 - 15 players per team
BE - 11 players per team

Couldn't find newer stats and I don't feel like adding it up for each conference... maybe I'll do a spreadsheet... But I'm pretty sure this trend continues today.

    Oregon State 1
    Washington State 2
    Washington 3
    UCLA 4
    Arizona State 5
    California 6
    Arizona 7
    USC 8
    Stanford 9
    Oregon 10

Since all those teams are in the Pac10, I assume they played each other (plus Portland State, Hawaii and New Mexico maybe). Does anybody see anything wrong with those rankings? :insane:

Before the SEC started it's current run of championships, the SEC was getting anwhere near the respect it gets now. Florida had a bunch of close games in 2006 and people said they didn't deserve to play in the BCS championship. Those associated with the SEC said the reason for so many close games was because the conference was so tough. Others were saying that Florida just wasn't that good. Florida would proceed to give Ohio St. the beat down of all beat downs. All of a sudden the media realized how good the SEC was. The SEC has been on a very impressive run and the media loves to run with that kind of stuff. However, the only thing they love more is tearing stuff down that they once praised. So now the cool thing to do is to talk about how the SEC is overrated.

I think the problem is that the SEC fans under estimate some of the other conferences. But the SEC is not over rated....at all.

Now as for ESPN and the media....NO one should care what a bunch of stupid ex jocks who were passed all the way through school because of football say!

Most of them wouldn't even make good posters on this forum because they have absolutely NO insight...not to mention coherent thought, journalism experience, or ethics.

All they have is their over inflated egos and immature opinions. They only have relevance because the average American sports fan is even dumber than they are...for confusing athletic ability with mental acumen and worshiping them as heroes. :dis:

no chance ..... none. I'm a huge fan of both HC Patterson and DC Bumpus, but there's simply no chance that TCU's offense scores enough points to stay on the field with Auburn last season.

We all heard how LaMichael James and company were going to destroy AU's defense .... remind me again how accurate ducks fans were with their predictions? ... sorry :rolleye33:

I don’t understand why other conferences take issue with us being the dominate force in college football and try to negate it with “we play lesser OOC.” If you are playing in a conference that 7 out of 12 teams are ranked in the top 25, on in OUR case...a conference division that all but ONE team in that division is ranked in the Top 25, why the f*ck do you need to schedule 4 quality OOC opponents?

The argument isn’t even well grounded in fact…do we not play Oregon and WVU this year, both teams by the way are picked to win their respected conferences. Did we not play North Carolina and WVU last year. True 2012 is a little of a letdown but it happens.

In addition, we are not the only SEC team that schedule quality OOC opponents.

Let’s look at our SEC brethrens OOC opponents this year:

Georgia vs Boise (12-1 last year, went 3-1 against Top 25), Georgia Tech (6-7)
Ole Miss vs BYU (7-6 last year)
Auburn vs Clemson (ACC, 6-7 last year)
Tennessee vs Cincinnati (4-8 last year)
Bama vs Penn State (7-6 last year)
Vanderbilt vs Army (7-6 last year)
Vanderbilt vs UCONC (8-5 last year, finished second in Big East)
    South Carolina plays East Carolina (6-7) , Clemson (6-7) , Navy (9-4)
Mississippi State UAB, Memphis, La Tech (ok their schedule is weak)
    Kentucky vs Louisville (7-6)
    Florida vs. Florida State (10-4)
    Arkansas vs. Texas A&M (9-4)

Not all those teams are powerhouses, but I guarantee you at the end of the year the majority will be playing in bowls games, which to me makes them a quality opponent and not a cream puff.
