auburn plays an awesome style. dive at anything within 50 feet of you and swing for the fences on every pitch. now this is baseball i can watch. there have been some great defensive plays in this game so far.

There will be baseball passed Thursday for the Tigers! 1-0, knocking off the mighty Gators! They were pitching a freshman against our ace, but at least we're in the winners bracket.

Well they didn't pitch their ace, Alex Panteliodis , but Brian Johnson was a good pitcher for them and made the SEC's All-freshman team:

O'Sullivan believes Johnson, from Cocoa Beach, Fla., might have the highest ceiling among Florida's young pitchers. A left-handed pitcher, Johnson went 5-3 with a 3.62 ERA this season. O'Sullivan said Johnson consistently throws his fastball from 90 to 93 mph.

"He looks the part," O'Sullivan said. "When he takes the mound, you can pick him out."

But like the rest of Florida's freshman class, Johnson did more than look the part this season.

Florida baseball's freshman class lives up to its billing - ESPN

If you will recall, he pitched against us 3 weeks ago and held us in check pretty good:

Sunday, The Gators blew the doors off LSU, winning 13-6. Brian Johnson (4-2, 2.90) was a man amongst boys, allowing three runs in 6.1 innings, and going 2-4 at the plate including a grand slam (2 HR). Having Johnson being able to pitch and hit (.387 average) is a tremendous advantage going forward. If it wasn't for Johnson, Austin Maddox might have been the most impressive freshman, hitting 1-3 with a three-run homer, his team leading 13th of the season. He also leads the team with 50 RBI.

Gator Baseball sweeps LSU - Alligator Army

So it may not have bee a respect thing and may have been Florida thought Johnson had our number. Either way, I'm glad they started him :thumb: Now Florida has to beat Arky to stay in the tourney.

Did anyone just see the ending to the UF/Arky game?

Arky down 2 runs with 1 out and 2 on base. UF center fielder made an incredible diving catch and they threw the runner on 1st out. Arky would have at least scored one if the ball dropped but maybe 2 to tie it up.
