Moving on up...
No problem, I'm just trying to keep up myself. Hopefully all the numbers are right! All Scores are final. The direct loss hurt, but just about everyone else that we needed to drop a game ended up winning. Not only do we need to win tomorrow, we could use some help to move a little closer before the last two series. 1) South Carolina: 18-5 1) Vanderbilt: 18-5 3) Florida: 18-6 4) Georgia: 13-10 5) Arkansas: 12-12 6) Alabama: 11-12 6) Auburn: 11-12 8) Ole Miss: 10-13 8) Mississippi State: 10-13 LSU: 8-15 Kentucky: 5-18 Tennessee: 5-18
Standing as of 05/08 at 11:00 PM 1) Vanderbilt: 19-5 2) South Carolina: 18-6 2) Florida: 18-6 4) Georgia: 14-10 5) Arkansas: 12-12 5) Alabama: 12-12 7) Auburn: 11-13 7) Ole Miss: 11-13 7) Mississippi State: 11-13 LSU: 8-16 Kentucky: 5-19 Tennessee: 5-19 Upcoming games are in the first post. Losing 2/3 to Bama hurt, but it's not over yet. Alabama at Auburn and Mississippi State at Ole Miss series means that two of those teams are going to lose ground. If LSU can sweep Tennessee, with Mississippi State remaining we still have a decent chance to get in the top 8.
church is out. its best anyhow. we simply couldnt hit a left handed pitcher if he was pitching batting practice. we have no bats and this small ball crap is cute if you're 8 or long beach st. bring back the real bats. this season can be put to rest.
The last two recruiting classes were supposed to be top-notch. You have to wonder if we need a new batting coach and a pitching coach.
the coaches are fine. the players are relatively young and lack a leader. mahtook leads with his 2 for 12 bat but its not enough. and the pitching is ok but its hard to pitch when you know time and time again you will get no run support. and it doesnt help when you cant intimidate teams with the long ball and being forced to play one way. the bats have been reduced to fungo bats. coaching and recruiting could use some tweaking but you still need legit hitters. not athletes who cant hit. its just a bad mix of non-hitters who need more at-bats and/or bench time. I hear the taj mahal of facilities isnt helping work ethic either. a few too many think they can win just by putting on the LSU jerseys. Doesnt work that way now the playing field is equal.
Sorry, I think they need a batting coach. These guys don't know how to play small ball. The pitching is OK, but it's not great. Other teams have adapted. Maybe we need a fungo bat coach.
Friday games are finally done. Florida and Vandy will resume play tomorrow, Alabama and Auburn will play a double header. 1) Vanderbilt: 19-5 2) Florida: 18-6 3) South Carolina: 18-7 4) Georgia: 14-11 5) Arkansas: 13-12 7) Mississippi State: 13-13 7) Alabama: 12-12 8) Auburn: 11-13 9) Ole Miss: 11-15 LSU: 9-16 Kentucky: 6-19 Tennessee: 5-20 Game / Broadcast Schedule -------------------------------------- Thursday, May 12 Mississippi State 7 at Ole Miss 6 -------------------------------------- Friday, May 13 Alabama at Auburn postponed, DH Saturday Florida 2 at Vanderbilt 4, suspended in the 6th Georgia 4 at Kentucky 7, FINAL Tennessee 0 at LSU 9, FINAL Mississippi State 7 at Ole Miss 4, FINAL Arkansas 6 at South Carolina 2, FINAL Crunching the numbers, it looks bleak. Even *if* LSU goes 6-0 to take us to 14-16, there aren't many tiebreaker scenarios that favor us. There are too many possibilities to go through them all, but the baseball gods are going to have to conspire to get us in. It's possible, but not likely :/ In the mean time, run the table against Tennessee or else. No pressure!
