We all knew it was coming, but this is that weird year that actually punishes a ton of teams. The schedules (except for Alabama) are all stacked with consecutive road games, tough teams and then the injuries have left the conference in a very vulnerable state. I guess the West could still keep us in the hunt. Auburn can beat A&M, LSU will beat 'Bama and then it comes to LSU winning two games. There is the circular firing squad opportunity here which will leave each team in the SEC with 2 losses. Weird...
Imagine LSU beating Bama and then, forgive me for entertaining this thought, we lose to A&M, allowing Alabama to sneak into the SEC CG and get back into the national title game.
Bama's schedule then looks like crap, since the only two legitimate teams they played in the regular season handed them either a loss or barely eked out a win. Nick won't be able to use the "smell test" argument, and if there are two undefeateds left, voters will put them in.
Not that the League office cares, but switching Kentucky and Georgia with Alabama and us now seems like a bad deal. If we win out and don't get in the BCS Championship Game, I hope we point out that is was Birmingham that made the difference. Move the SEC offices now! Put it in Lexington or Nashville.
