    Tebow- Florida
    Stafford- UGA
    Mustain - UArk
    McElroy - Bama.

"Literally, that very well could be the top four QB's in the nation all headed to the SEC."

That's not my quote, but a comment coming from one of the recruiting services out of the Dallas area this morning.

If anything, the SEC will not be without a lot of talent under center for the next 3-5 years.

Looks pretty damn good to me. I saw a vid of McElroy. Wasn't nothing special but he seems to have an acceptional arm. He worked out of the shotgun a lot in HS though.

I'm fairly aquainted with a coach he faced for the Championship this year...to say he was impressed, is an ... he was impressed.

Redshirt...should see the field in '08 clean up.

I'd say this is a down year for QBs. Look at last year with Sanchez & Perrilloux. Both of those guys were far above the caliber than any of the kids in this class.

I've only seen some on Tebow & Mustain. Don't know much about the other 2, but was not particularly impressed with the 2 I saw. I saw a lot of sporadic play and sloppy form, nothing that showed they were already ready for the next level.

At any rate, it's never a bad thing when all the top 4 QBs in the country chose to come to the SEC. This may be the beginning of us seeing more impressive offenses.

Stafford is much better than Sanchez IMO.

McElroy has a video on Scout.com

Seems to have just gotten offers from TT, Bama, and Colorado.

I guess since Bama whiffed on Tebow and Smelley they are praising whoever they can that may come to Bama to play QB for Shula

I've seen all of these top QBs and Stafford was by far the most impressive. McElroy is a good player and surrounded by alot of talent at Southlake, not too mention in a great passing offensive scheme. Tebow doesn't seem to have the best mechanics but with coaching that can be fixed. Not all that impressed with Mustain in the small amount of stuff I've seen on him. Stafford looks good though, a very good pickup for Georgia.

For what it's worth, Smelley never was offered a scholly. He was told of the Tebow recruitment and if a offer was going to come it would be after TT's decision. There's a bit more to this story I'll get to in a second.

I wouldn't go as far as to say a "whiff" on Tebow either. He was UF's to lose, and I think you can agree we were in it until the last moment. Frankly, it was a lot like Brodie's recruitment when it came down to FSU and Bama. Family ties...it's a hard thing to overcome.

Smelley. First, you have his desire to also play baseball which isn't something Shula is in favor of. But, that is just the tip of the iceburg. I've known the Smelley family since the early 90's and it is a bit difficult to find words to describe his father, Bart. You've seen/heard situations where the father ends up trying to control what the coach decides. This situation falls into that category in spades. Bart's story goes on and on...been a life long Bama fan but also the kind of guy that wants things his way and he'll do anything he can to get them done his way. I've seen him operate his business under such a mentality only to find himself engaged in some underhanded practices which resulted in finding himself in civil court...eventually finding himself out of business. The announcement Smelley made was a few days before Tebow. It was a choice made by his father in an effort to "force the hand" of the coaching staff. As soon as that move was made, the attn's of the staff went elsewhere. As example, we've been in contact with McElroy his entire senior year, but like Smelley, he knew Tebow was top on the board. He's no loss...but I'm sure if he has success you'll find a few Bama fans saying "we whiffed on Smelley." Bottom line...well, you just read it.

Stafford. I agree. Looks great on film. Mustain was surrounded by a lot of playmakers at Springdale...and if UArk can get some talent in place at the WR spot he'll enjoy some success there also.

With Tebow, the question I have is UM going to stay with his "option-spread attack" or stick with the scheme he used the second half of the season. My instinct tells me (based on his persona) he's convinced himself that attack will work anywhere and he won't abandon it.
