I think that's illegal in most areas up north besides if you defend yourself up there, you spend more time in jail than the criminal.

Oregon also has statewide preemption for its concealed-carry laws—with limited exceptions, counties and cities cannot place limits on the ability of people to carry concealed weapons beyond those provided by state law.
And then there's New York, Massachusettes, Illinois and others will extremely restrictive draconian gun laws

In Louisiana you don't need a concealed permit to carry a loaded gun in your vehicle. Open carry is not uncommon and perfectly legal.
