FWIW...........I joined the TAF in 2000 to support the new East upper deck. As I remember my first seats were on about the 25 and were bleacher type, my donation to TAF was $50.00 per seat plus the ticket. I upgraded the next year and had a $350.00 surcharge and got chairback type on about the 30. When my son made the travel squad at TCU as RS frosh,(2002) I was forced to give up tics but maintained a $300.00 per year level that I still do today.(Have not bought tics again............yet) I want to say my TAF number used to be less than 1700 but I just checked the site and it is up to 2700 now, so I guess there are quite a few doing as Desi did in above post.
No because I have 2 in the West Upper and I donate every year and still no upgrade for me either. It seems like I could atleast move down a few rows.
I was able to get 2 tickets more or less piggybacked (consecutive rows, a few seat #'s difference) in the south endzone this year with a $300 donation to TAF.
Was that your first ever donation and first time getting tickets? So 300 did give you more priority than 100?
TAF does fractions of a point so for $300 to regular TAF funds you get 0.3 pt vs 0.1 pt for $100. (Or it could be 0.6 vs 0.2 pts if the donation goes to a philanthropic fund) Then another 3 bonus pts per year of donating at least $100. I think Mike's Habitat is a philanthropic endeavor so if you want to get double the points, see if you can still donate to that.
Yes, first time getting tickets, and sort of a yes on first donation. $300 is the total I have donated to date. I gave $100 in December, which gave me credit for membership in 2006. This gave me 3.1 points (3 bonus points for the $100/year, then .1 based on 1 point per thousand. Then, I gave another $100 in January for 2007. This gave me another 3.1. I assumed there were probably a lot of people who just give a $100 per year, so I'd be even with them on points, so then I gave another $100 to the scholarship fund, which gave me an additional .2 points, based on 2 points per $1000. I had a total of 6.4 points at the deadline and was just over 6,000 on the ranking. When they called, they had singles left on the sidelines, the south endzone, and in the uppers.
This has been one very productive thread. Thanks for all of the information everyone! marc, that is very helpful. I am going to look into doing soemthing similar. Except I'll give to a fund before the end of this year.. The repeat the same processes in January.
