nah its just because the saints suck. their record is a byproduct of the crap they keep marching out there. that defense is reprehensible.
No doubt. It's mind boggling how they can go from the worst defense in NFL history, to a top 5 D, then back to being one of the worst again. I don't get it. Obviously, they lack talent and depth, but it's basically the same unit as last year, so how where they able to do it then?
Inconsistency. Every competitor has highs and lows. Last year was obviously a high. It will almost always level off and on a long enough time frame, the true nature will become apparent. Last in the league in 2012, top 5 last year, bottom 5 this year. What does that avg out to? You are what you are...probably in the low to mid 20s on avg. That'll dip even further as this year goes on, though, with all the injuries and lack of depth. Sean Payton is a one-dimensional evaluator of talent. Or is it Mickey Loomis? IDK, but unless we get a boat-load of turnovers or all the breaks go our way, ala 2009, with the defense and lack of running game/physicality we show up with most of the time, we will never win another title. Defense and running games win championships. 99 times our of 100 at least...
I never had high expectations for LSU. I did for the Saints. All that preseason BS saying it was the best Saint roster assembled in the Payton era.
Same here and on paper, it did look like a Super Bowl caliber team. But as the cliche goes, that's why they play the games.
Typical that he's suspended now instead of 2 weeks ago. Not that him being out would have made a difference in the game, but maybe they score on that 4th and goal from the 1, where they run it right at Ngata. Just a great play call for that situation. /sarcasm off
Just a shitty job Payton has done this season. Team was nowhere near prepared to play a football game today.
