O'Keefe was hired to basically be a fundraiser for LSU, and to my knowledge he did that. The faculty never wanted him there, supposedly because he didn't have a Ph.D. Once the Board of Supervisors hired Lombardi his political support evaporated and the writing was on the wall.
He did, but that was only about a quarter of his job description. Coming after Emmert didn't help. Emmert hit it out of the park and O'Keefe fanned.

I was talking to a friend about it this morning. He said that to be Director of NASA you have to be able to survive a plane crash. I guess he was right. Glad to hear it. I liked Space Chancellor O'Keefe.
