Way to go SEALS. I wonder why we waited 3 months for the rescue though?

Intelligence gathering takes time. Meanwhile it is safer and often much cheaper to negotiate a ransom.

I understand the intelligence gathering and ransom things, but it just seems that hostages are left to languish until something expedites the process.

If the above is to be taken at face value, why not develop a rescue plan a month ago?

There is a foreign national involved and both were working for a foreign aid agency. International politics are involved. Also there are other hostages in Somalia that may be harder to rescue or ransom now.

Who says it wasn't? They have to wait for an optimum time to go in. A month ago they may have been downtown in a building with 200 armed men in it. A month ago we may not have had any eyes on the ground to confirm.

When you rush these things, you end up with Desert One debacles. And no one has forgotten Mogadishu. Obama was not going to send in any troops until it was certain that it would work and there would be no American bodies dragged through the streets.

cause the closer to the election the better is the main reason. the SEALS are ready to go 24-7. they train constantly. when the news comes in they can deploy, recon and accomplish within a few days. but, when you get politicians involved they have to look at how they can benefit from the SEALS actions. the pros and cons. if everything goes well the politician takes credit, like when barack heloed into pakistan and killed bin laden and his body guards, or when it goes wrong, like the chopper going down in the compound and the SEALS didn't do their job and totally destroy it now barry has to negotiate with pakis to keep from selling to china. the world trade centers was bush's fault cause he was president, didn't matter that the clinton administration had had bin laden and let him go.

Political lies, misinterpretations, exaggerations, and downright ignorance of what actually happened.
