Apparently, a group of Seahawk fans funded a Guinness Book of World record official to attend Sunday night's game against the 49ers, where they claim to set the mark for the loudest stadium. They claim a sack of Kaepernick, crowd noise hit 131.9 decibels, breaking the previous mark of 131.76 set overseas. The article doesn't mention whether or not Guinness authenticated the record. I wonder how loud Tiger Stadium was during the Earthquake game (my first in Tiger Stadium; not that anyone cares) or the Dome after Gleason's block or Hartley's NFC Championship game kick. I bet we could break that record. I know I've walked out of more than one game there with my ears ringing. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9679588/seattle-seahawks-group-says-fans-set-loudest-mark
I am skeptical since the Seahawks play in a non domed stadium. I would bet that its louder in the Superdome when the crowd gets going when the Saints are playing the Falcons or a playoff game
From what I heard, some stadiums mic up the crowd to make the crowd noise louder too. Seems like a very subjective world record with a lot of other variables that can play in.
@fanatic For sustained volume at uncomfortable levels, I have never experienced anything close to the NFCCG in the Dome.
Yep, I agree. I definitely had ringing ears and was hoarse for a week. In Tiger Stadium, the game that stands out for me as far as sustained crowd noise (sustained being the key word) was the '97 game vs then No. 1 Florida. We were standing the entire time and everytime FU came out on offense, it was so loud, you couldn't even hear the person standing next to you.
