Swerved, That's a great report, THANKS! I like to hear that Shep is the real deal. I agree with you about Garrett having the best arm, although I can only base it on very limited action at the spring game, but his mechanics looked great. There are so many guys I want to see perform well, like Keiland and Chad Jones. I hope Keiland shows some better north and south power this year, we know he has the speed. Our receivers could end up as hot stuff. LaFell is good and proven. T. Toliver came in with credentials, and he appears at times to be on the cusp of breaking through. His pictures this year show he added muscle and if his mental game progressed to match, look out. We'll see, but I'm hopeful. On Randall, I'll just take the local guys observations, but if he's as good as advertised, opposing defenses are going to have a problem with the Tigers. I'm excited about this team. We're young at QB and a few other spots, but every other college team has to replace folks (except Fla. on defense). The potential is there!
I just got the chills. Goose bump city. Man this is starting to feel like its TIGER FOOTBALL TIME. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!
Swerved -- there's only one thing that concerns me on offense.. has Jefferson shortened his release and is he still rolling to the right the majority of plays?
Ya know, I didn't even think to look at that. They rotated a good bit so it's hard to say. He looked good though.
From the sound of Swerve's report, everything is rounding into shape. I like how our defense is coming together. Besides Chavis, I really like the addition of Ron Cooper to the coaching staff. Although both come from the the SEC east, they're both familiar with SEC offenses and, like us, they're previous teams played Fla every year, so I believe they know how to slow down the almighty and FU. USCe's passing D was top 3 the last couple of years with Cooper as their 2ndary coach and Tenn D last year was the strength of their team. They only reason they were blown out against FU and Bama was because of their inept offense turning the ball over deep in their own territory and all of the 3&outs, which kept their D on the field the entire game. But I digress. The kicking game is a concern, but going in, I think we all knew it was going to be. Out of the 2 place kickers, which one looks the best? Losing David is huge and I hope we can get some consistency in that department as well. BTW Swerve, you lucky MF'er )), how'd you get access to a closed practice?
Well, when the PK's were kicking, there were a lot of other drills going on on the field, so I didn't pay a tremendous amount of attention to whether Alleman or Jasper was kicking. I did notice that they both seemed to have problems at times kicking the ball deep. The kicks weren't ugly kicks, they just didn't seem to have a lot of distance.. maybe they were holding back, who knows? As for going to the scrimmage, my boss was going and invited me to go along with. The company I work for used to be right across the street from the stadium in the business incubator. Also, he knows a couple of the players. It wasn't like we were the only ones there or anything though. I'd say a couple hundred people were there. Again, there were probably some things I didn't pick up on or didn't see, so I hope everyone keeps their feet on the ground. Just don't want to make the kool-aid too strong. They've got all the talent they need to do big things this season. It's just a matter of whether the players can come together as a unit. So far, I'd say they're headed in the right direction and look focused. I think it's hard to tell for sure until we get into some SEC competition, though.
I thought maybe you were acting like you were servicing the coke machines in the stadium or sweeping the concourses.opcorn:
It's just nice to get an inside that isn't either media watered down or sunshined pumped. Thanks Swerved
