Wright was on the field a good bit last year but the ball didn't come his way much just like Boone. Wright has a big body and great hands. Most of the coaches felt he was the best freshman WR last year because he could also come in and use his body to block. Boone was used more to spread the defense with his speed. Armand is probably another year away and if nothing happens with him moving up the depth chart he will likely be left out of the mix. Very tall and could be utilized as a redzone WR. Right now it is Wright and Boone trying to hold off Beckham. When Landry comes in we could see both cutting into Boone and Wright's time. Right now Boone has been moved into the slot behind Shep so Wright and Beckham won't have as much of an impact on his playing time. I could see Landry on the outside and the slot.
We always hear a lot of hype about WRs, but it seems like the guys in the last two classes are actually living up to it. It has been a while since that was the case, I think. Exciting!
Its difficult to judge based on scrimmage numbers. Some players get touches in "high percentage" plays while others may have more difficult assignments or field position. Wing's ambidextrous punting skills make me wonder if Miles will go with a rollout punt scheme a bit this year.
Curious, since clearly you were there. What was the situations when JJ was in? Starting at the opposite 20 against the scout team? Or working against the ones in red zone situations??
