I agree 100% that Dugas is not the answer in any way to our FB situation. Nothing against him, but he is slow getting to the point of attack and gets in the way. He blocks like a walk on OL and not like a FB. Not his fault, it is what it is.

I also want to point out that the answer to our FB situation is NOT to sit Richard Dickson in the slot and have him block off the edge while we run the TB. Dickson is probably our #2 offensive weapon and has arguably the best hands of all the receivers. He needs to be a TE and releasing down the field taking full advantage of the TE/LB mismatch that he creates. He really should average about 17 yds a catch.

I agree R. Shepard needs more touches. I believe he needs them for a series at a time, if possible. I think using him for a spot play here or there is too predictable and will not take full advantage of his abilities to create chaos for defenses as a runer/passser. Also, JJ is young and allowing him to rest a series and get "coached" on the sidelines for a series might benefit him throughout the game.

I like where this Tiger team is headed; we just need to keep getting a little better each week and can beat anyone in the SEC.

What TE averages 17/catch? Even Gresham, who had a bunch of huge plays last year, only averaged 14.5. 17/catch from a TE is a ridiculous expectation.

You pick yds per catch to debate?? Dickson averages about 12 yds. per catch for his career at LSU. My point was that Dickson has been lined up in the slot, a lot this season being used as a blocker which does not help our team at all. My other point is that in my opinion, Dickson offers a mismatch to those responsible for covering the TE. He should definately be receiving the ball downfield in the seem and picking up good yardage. Is 17 yds a catch too much?? I don't know, I will leave it up to the experts. I was trying to agree with the point that he needs more touches as well and he has the ability to pick up big yards for the Tigers.

Whatever happened with converting TBob into a FB that they were flirting with back in the Spring?

I think T Bob is a better center than a FB. I agree that the young FB's must not be ready to go, which is why the experiment with Dugas. I thought there was another TE that was being tried at the FB position as well?

    Re: Runningbacks

i know i've said this in another thread but that is one of my favorite running plays. Especially when you have someone as good as Scott being the decoy/surprise runner.

I feel that Scott as FB is better for the team. For one I dont think Dugas is quick enough. Nothing against him, but he doesnt have the burst off the snap. Scott will also be able for a FB dive on short yardage or a decoy. Wlliams has been the most effective back thus far. The blocking has been much better on the sweeps and options. As for some saying Scott isnt in stride, well its not easy when the D knows you gonna run up the gut. Add to that the OL isnt making any holes. When they did make holes against Vandy, Scott was plowing people and moving piles.

If he was ready he would be playing. The staff isn't experimenting with a walk on OL and a converted RB when they have someone better sitting on the bench.
