He wanted an experienced NFL coach. Coach O got somebody with his resume is actually pretty astonishing. I don't know what happened to him, but yeah he's been negative a lot this season and continues to be the ultimate skeptic.
You do know Linehan has extensive OC experience in the NFL? And you do realize Joe Brady didn't invent the forward pass?
I was negative towards the D (and I think O was quietly happy for Aranda to move on; maybe even gave a nudge). Still, Aranda improved after Ole Miss, and I was more or less satisfied. Also critical of special teams and feel like Cregg was helped out big time by an innovative offense. Don’t like having dead weight on the staff for recruiting purposes (Mickey Joseph). All that said, I loved this year, it was amazing. Still scarred by Miles pissing away a decade of LSU’s golden years.
Well Georgia, Bama and Clemson suposedly out recruited Oeaux for the last 4 years. Do I have to tell the rest of the story or can you figure that out on your own?
1. So did Cam Cameron. 2. He did invent the most prolific college football offense in history. Somewhat surprised by your attempts to minimize Brady's contribution only after he leaves us for "greener pastures".
I don't think he is actually. I think what he is saying is that when Linehan looks at every tape of a record setting championship season, he is not gonna spout off about things that need changing. He should be good enough to sustain the standard, create plays that benefits the strengths of the offense and be able to take advantage of what college defenses give him. This guy wasn't hired to fix anything, he was hired to compliment and whether he can remains to be seen.
Brady created the offense and Lineham should certainly be able to understand and fulfill whatever role in it falls to him. What really made if work like a well oiled machine was Joe Burrow with his instant and accurate reads and line of scrimmage adjustments. How close Brennan comes to that standard remains to be seen.
As a Cowboys fan, I always had mixed feelings about Linehan. Clearly, he was not the cause of the Cowboy's lack of success -- the problems run much higher here. However, I never got a superstar vibe from Scott and he never did anything to truly shine. He did have a quiet confidence in the background though. So initially when I heard this news, I was a bit disappointed. I wanted another media darling like Brady with youth and charisma who was touted as a rising star. But 48 hours in I feel differently. I have no doubt that Ensminger picked up enough of 'Brady's' offense. And for us to get a passing game coordinator with Linehan's resume is astounding.
