It's a rare occurance. Perhaps only 6 have occurred in all of geologic time. For the first time, a species has evolved that has the power to change its environment. It is foolish for us to help bring on an environmental disaster.

If they change at a far greater pace than evolution can keep up with then habitats will be destroyed including our own.

He will complain when the temperate zones become a desert and most of the coastal cities are under water.

what caused this if not humans?

lots of animals change their environments. LOTS.

is this what you believe will happen? do you think that that the science indicates this?

Different things. Climate change most likely in three, a couple of giant meteor impacts, and a possible pandemic.

Were talking scale here. Name one that can connect continents with bridges, connect oceans with canals, create flying machines, ships, build roads, cities, establish agriculture and travel to the moon. Name one that can deforest continents, pollute the atmosphere, cause acid rain, and unbalance the chemistry of the ocean on an oceanic planet? There is just one species.

It is among the likely scenarios. yes, science indicates this. You can see for yourself, but you have to be able to read more than the title. Much of it is longer than 13 pages.

It's chit like this why I'm not looking for the end of days b/c of man..

"Yet even Kevin Trenberth, a lead author of 2001 and 2007 IPCC report chapters, has admitted that the IPCC models have failed to duplicate realities. Writing in a 2007 “Predictions of Climate” blog appearing in the science journal Nature.com he stated, “None of the models used by the IPCC are initialized to the observed state and none of the climate states in the models correspond even remotely to the current observed state.”"

Climate Forecasting Models Aren't Pretty, And They Aren't Smart - Forbes

Basically, their models can't even recreate observed data, but they are good enough to predict the future.

    Good work team!!!

    of course they cant.

3 things humans do not understand nearly as much as they think they do: the brain, the economy and climate.

so the climate changes without us, how can we rule this out this time?

    ants build bridges

    beavers make incredible canals

which continent have we deforested? all the continents i have been to have plenty of trees.

cows "pollute" the atmosphere. although i do not agree with the definition of pollute.

who wrote down the proper balance for the ocean? god? you talk as if there are standards! what is wrong with you?

science does not indicate this. and you dont believe it. you dont really believe that coastal cities will be underwater because of AGW. you pretend you do when people are listening.

i am glad folks like sabanfan understand this so well, the liberal mind. else i would go crazy when i hear your nonsense.

    Read the IPCC report.

Like I said, its a matter of scale. You apparently don't understand "scale".

Europe. The remaining tree-cover is minuscule compared to its natural state.

Cows are domesticated and thus another human-induced factor. There were few wild cows.

Your total ignorance of oceanography is not my problem.

Prove it. Good luck with that.

Don't ever try to tell me what I believe. You suck at it. You don't even know what you believe.

Typical martin bullchit. No evidence, no supporting facts, just mock and jeer. You got nuthin', brother. It's sad, really.

I'm still waiting for the liberals to lead by example by ceasing to expand their "carbon footprint".

Instead they choose the typical liberal method by demanding more money get dumped into their pockets.

Anybody seen any liberals walking, riding bikes, or living outside? Didn't think so. :thumb:

what you believe doesnt make sense unless i explain what you actually believe. i feel like it is helpful for the rest of us if we make some actual sense of your ramblings.

Then pay better attention. It's not only liberals, but, moderates and conservatives who are trimming their carbon footprint. Wake up and look at all the smaller trucks, electric cars, energy-efficient houses, low-power lightbulbs and solar panels out there. This isn't a liberal/conservative issue, it's a smart/foolish issue.

I live 10 minutes from my office, no long commute. I live in a small house that is cheap to heat and cool. I super-insulated my attic and I'm adding double-pane windows next year. I live in a nice shade-tree, pedestrian neighborhood with a grocery store, 3 bars, 8 restaurants, a drug store, a barber shop, 2 lawyers, a coffee shop, two convenience stores, a gas station, 6 retail stores, a dentist, and a dry cleaner all within walking distance.

I do own a bicycle that I use as well as a canoe. Most of all, I own a 120 acre forest. I'm actually carbon negative, amigo.

Who has done this? Be specific.

You should get out more. Try a major university campus and the neighborhoods around it. Try visiting Portland or Seattle or Madison, Wisconsin. Lots of places.
