When Miles got here everything he did was met with derisive comments by those that wanted another coach. I think he has proven all of the naysayers wrong. His recruiting was one of the things that was brought up a million times. They said he was stupid for offering this kid and for not offering that one. He was stupid for going into GA and not concentrating on Texas, Florida and the Mobile area. And that there is no way he should be offering scholarships to kickers and punters. Imagine how many games we may have lost the past few years without the great specialist we have had. Thank goodness Coach Miles doesn't take fans advice!
Totally agree. Miles is excellent at evaluating talent. Especially in evaluating the Louisiana kids, he is way ahead of Rivals, Scout, etc.. 3 Star recruits like Mo Claiborne, Ken Adams & Benny Logan may not have helped him win the "Recruiting National Championship", but they are helping him win the BCS National Championship. Oh yeah, and there was that 5'8" 160lb kid out of New Orleans that was too small to play at this level - Tyrann Mathieu. LSU! :crystal:
CLM especially has a knack for finding great special teams' players, including punters and place kickers!! He's a million light years ahead of Saban on that front! :geauxtige
Wow. I missed all this complaining about the recruiting. I've followed LSU recruiting as close as anyone other than bhelm and I don't recall questioning a coach who constantly has us in the top 6 every year.
Neither have I. It's the one thing I've always heard people praise him for when they were critical of other aspects.
