then where are the comments now? why is it that I quoted them yet they are no longer present? did the moderators take it off? you did it. you removed the comment because you were backed into a corner. you said something that was obviously nonsense and by the time you realized it someone had already called you on it. be a man and admit when you are wrong....
put the shovel down and quit digging that ignorance hole you are standing in. just admit that you said something stupid and we'll move on....
You DO need help! I always get a laugh when someone says they are self-made because I know it's bull shit. what about teachers who give you an education, roads that enable you to get to school, law enforcement to keep the peace, fire fighters to protect your investments, individuals who give of their time and energy so that you can have the knowledge and understanding that it takes to build your dreams. without these things a dream of owning your own business are about as likely as shitting out a pearl. you may not think of them often but all of the aforementioned things that government provides are necessary ingredients to creating and operating a business. if you think otherwise then you have a shallow understanding of what it takes to successfully operate a business. In the days of the Civil War it was common for successful business men to gain access to the President, if nothing else just for a sit down and to be able to say that they had met with the President. On one such instance an overly proud and obnoxious business man strolled into the Oval Office and, after shaking hands with President Lincoln, announced that he was a "self-made man." Lincoln, in his typical pensive and reflective style, removed his glasses, sat up in his chair and calmly stated, "well, I'm glad to hear that. It relieves the Almighty of an awesome responsibility." moral of the story is: no one is self-made.
Well this thread has gotten out of control. I'll make a couple of points on my own not responding to anyone in particular. I don't think obama is anti business but I do think, because he has said it, that Obama feels business owners take from a system and don't give anything in return. That's flat out wrong. Secondly, I have listened to the entire speech. While he was talking about infrastructure, his statement said to me that essentially business owners don't build their businesses, the government builds the business by creating an environment where it's possible to build a business. While government (which is funded mostly by these people who are starting businesses by the way) could not exist and thrive without infrastructure, neither would our massive economy or benefits others get from the government exist without businesses. So which comes first, the chicken or the egg. That's why the argument is so absurd. Bottom line is that businesses aren't taking anything out of the economy, it creates the economy which then creates infrastructure which then creates business and so on. Those who are intelligent enough, brave enough, creative enough, and efficient enough still have to build those businesses and most of them risk it all to do so.
I agree with you that one is no good without the other. Government needs entrepreneurs just as much as entrepreneurs need government. I disagree with you about the context of the President's remarks Thank God football season is coming so we will all have something else to talk about! LOL......
Tiger NC Do you know that you can only edit a few post back? It is either that or there is a time limit set on editing.. EDIT: This is a test to show that I quoted the origonal message below and then edited this post to show that once quoted, the text will not change even if the origonal message has changed.
