I thought Southern Miss would have a better showing than this. Oh what Spurrier would do with our talent.

He doesn't necessarily even need our talent. He needs to find a quarterback. With his vaunted offensive mind, I figure he'd have bluechip 5-stars from around the country beating down his door to be tutelaged by him. I find it hard to believe South Carolina is THAT irrelevant in major college football recruiting. My opinion; shows just how much Spurrier is A) yesterday's news and B) really wasn't that awesome an offensive mind to start with.

Nevertheless, Gamecocks are looking good tonight (winning the way they usually win now: defense), and I think, if they are gonna break the SEC East Trinity dominance and go to the 'ship themselves, this has to be the year they do it. Tebow's gone at Florida, Georgia has a filing cabinet full of unanswered questions and turmoil, and Tennessee is in full rebuild mode. I really believe it's now or never for Carolina to win the East.

USM has no defense. This isn't Spurrier outsmarting anyone. If that was Les Miles at the end of the first half, the vultures would've been out in force. Clock mismanagement.

USM since Bower left/Fedora arrived...downhill. Defense really is important.

Jet where you been? So nice for a true response rather than some of these guys think everything is a dig at Miles. Would love to see SC represent the East.

I concur. They have some weapons. That big wide receiver number 1. The 2 backs, one which is Lattimore, who i thought was going to Auburn, guess that fell through, obviously. I know he is from Byrnes H.S. in South Carolina. Gilmore on defense, they just looked really solid on both sides of the ball. Like you said, don't know if it was because Southern Miss stinks, but the Cocks blew them out, which is what really good teams do to middle of the pack and lower tier mid majors.

Could this be the year that the Cocks take the east, the stars have aligned thus far. I caught alot of crap for picking them to be in Atlanta this year, last night made me feel a little better.

Spurrier could well be on his way to another 7 win season.

did you watch the game last night? they didn't look like your typical gamecocks under spurrier. that young quarterback has been the best thing that ever happened to stephen garcia, who looked great.

I saw a Southern Miss defense that wasn't very good. SC looked fine.
