You can float Les Miles into saintly status. But, it will not change his glaring failures as a coach.

if you are arguing about head coaches, you cannot separate recruiting from coaching.

for those of you that have forgotten. clm:

    hired chavis
    fired peveto-mallory
    fired crowton
corrected clock management avalanche (did you forget the game after OM in 2010?)
has the guts to get rid of cancers
he has overcome the wave of underperformance that kills programs
he will not run the program into the ground (like urban meyer).
he will not leave lsu (like saban).

clm may not be the best coach (however the hell you define that) but lsu would be stupid to go for anyone else. he is better than spurrier, richt, stoops, meyer, saban, carroll and petrino. the only ones that may be better are kelly, petersen and snyder---and that's "MAY".

so find something else to bitch about like gun control and taxes.

Bama gets the easier schedules, the benefit of the doubt in the voters' minds, more money, more history and exposure (for recruiting purposes), and geography (see my previous post). LSU doesn't have any of that...at least not to the same extent as Alafrickinbama. Hell, they even have more fans...and arguably more passionate fans. They can pack their stadium for a damn SPRING GAME every year. We can't even fill up the sideline seats.

Their success is half Saban, half Alafreakinbama.

Nah, that's bullcrap. The right coach can take a number of programs and make it a NC contender. Bama is one of those programs, but without the right guy guiding the ship, it's just another program.

You could argue that the SEC was way down when LSU won their NCs (easy schedule), but it's still a NC.

Bottom line is Bama has back to back NCs, it takes a special coach to do that. With an offense we probably would have won a NC last year and this year. In my mind, that is one of Miles' major failures. I wish the AD would step in and demand better offensive production, not give the guy a raise and an extension.
