I agree, Race shouldn't be a factor if he truly is a great tailback. What I am saying is that it is just one more reason I am skeptical when you also consider the level of competition, and his scout report saying he has no shake and bake at only 200 lbs. I don't think anyone can argue that it would be an oddity to see a great white tailback currently playing. If anyone cares to argue the point, please name all of these great starting tailbacks in the SEC. Is it impossible, for him to be great---no. If he is the real deal, I definately want him at LSU!
The coaches know how to tell a great athlete from a pretender who only looks good because of weak competition. We just have to trust their judgment on that. I'm not convinced Rivals and Scout know how to tell the difference between an athlete and a pretender, however.
Agreed, I like to see both the coaches and services in sync whenever possible. The other big clue is who is offering. If the big boys are not offering, it makes me a little nervous. One of our last 3 star recruits that gave us a verbal didn't have his home state teams offering him yet, Georgia and GTech. People on this board tried to give explanations as to why this occured, but it still made everyone question why. For instance, if a recruit were a lowly 2 star and LSU, Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Fla, Auburn, Texas, etc. are offering him, then you definately can say the services are incorrect. The kids being recruited can also make great improvement in a short period of time because they are still developing, unlike-- say-- pro players. I think that the coaches are probably monitoring the recruits more closely than scout and rivals and are privy to those advancements sooner.
I know it says we offered him, but often these things are wrong. Does anyone know if he really has a commitable offer yet?
