I understand what you are saying but at least the staff saw what Ford could do in the spring game. Not the case for Blue or Ware. Maybe thats the reason for the difference in carries. Just specualting.
As Bhelm already commented, you really can't put too much stock in what goes on during some of these scrimmages. There are some concerns that do stick out and some positives though. The one thing that came to my mind after reading some of the reports is that it is apparent our D is ahead of the O, as Miles makes a point to mention. Our run game seems to be ahead of our pass game, which could be concerning. Then I thought to myself I don't care if we run 90% of our plays, pick up 4-5 yds ending in a cloud of dust, with a 10-15 yd pass play every 8-10th play, and then every now and then a 20+yd pass. If we can do this, and do it better than anyone else, we could have a solid season. I'm not saying this is what I prefer, just that I don't care if this is all we do. We will pick up enough yardage to grind down the field and score and we will eat up the clock, winning the T.O.P. Yes, I know it might be predictable, and opposing D's might make it difficult, but there is a possibility of being successful with this style of O and I wouldn't care if that is where we find our success.
We already know (or are pretty sure) we will see plenty of Ford this season. These scrimmages are used lots of times to see how other players are progressing. They wanted to see Ware and Blue on the field to see what they might be able to contribute. Better to break the ice in a scrimmage than an SEC game. It doesn't necessarily mean Ford's in the doghouse, or not competing, or won't get as many touches during the season. I can't make you not be concerned, but I'm not. :thumb:
Good points. In the video of Miles speaking about the scrimmage, he said their focus as short yardage so, yea. Something that really suked last year.
I saw this today: According to this, we didn't see Zachary Lee's stats because they are withholding them, or at least that's the impression I get. If so, why?
Looking at that line, I'm not sure how JJ is not a concern. He's a junior now. Should be better than this. The running game appears to be improved, so that may help, but the days of "3 yards and a cloud of dust" are over. The QB has to make some plays.
You're both wrong. We should pretend like we are cancelling but then actually show up. They'll never expect it. I call it the ol' switch-a-roo.
