Most of the fans understand that LSU doesn't have the inherent right to win a national championship every year. #12 in the country in scoring defense is plenty good enough to compete. The problem is inconsistent quarterback play on offense. Someone always does. LSU's record in this decade averages 10 wins a season under Nick and Under Les with 3 SEC and 2 National Championships. You don't understand what mediocrity is. 4- and 5-loss seasons didn't seem to bother you when Nick was coach. Yes, he had them, too. You're been a Bama-lover here since day one. Les Miles will be the coach. Chicken Littles like yourself always think the sky is falling. You can be miserable the whole off-season if you want to. I'm going to enjoy it and expect another season of good SEC football in 2010 . . . and 2011.
Again, its not about expecting to win a title every year. Its about seeing a good product out there. Which I dont see. I dont see ANY improvements from game one to the bowl game. I see a poorly coached team. Players and schemes havent improved at all. Yesterday I seen a team that lacked focused through most of the game. Miles is known to lack focus as well as evidence by the poor clock management. I can accept a loss if I see LSU perform well to their talent. Im not at all seeing that the last two years. I wouldnt call LSU mediocre by any means but we are underachieving.
Bear Bryant. He had 3 great seasons from '64 to '66, and then his teams got worse and worse: 1966 -- 11-0 1967 -- 8-2-1 1968 -- 8-3 1969 -- 6-5 1970 -- 6-5-1 Should he have been fired?
Great post and point but thats a different day and age. Hey, I really like the man. I hope he proves me wrong. Im always a Tiger fan but I dont see LSU winning the SEC again as long as he is coaching.
That's because people typically have short memories. Les is on contract until 2011... that's when the decision will be made.
Also, Bear it had easier than LSU does today. The SEC in Bear's day was nowhere as strong and competitive as it is now.
I'm not sure that is 100% correct. I thought I read somewhere that Miles' contract gets automatically extended for each season he has 8 wins or more.
