Except that a lot of them have hired agents and taken payments or loans against future earnings. I agree that if you have no agent and haven't accepted money, you should get to retain college eligibility. Like baseball.
Yep, after cashing that check, and this is why around 80% of the NFL players are broke within 5 years of retirement. An 60% of NBA players.

Saw an article where Sonic Sam took a drug test after Houston released him and he passed. Looks like he's a free agent without having to play through his rookie contract. I'm guessing he'll get a hard look by the Jets, Ravens, and Steelers (and probably others).
