It's possible. But I doubt it. I don't know how you are reaching to concoct this to be a drug/anti drug argument. You are missing the point. The point is that Watt has been a dedicated, hard working player who strives to make the most of his opportunity and reach his maximum potential since coming into the NFL. Regardless of his personal life choices. His improvement and results are the evidence of that. Montgomery has demonstrated the exact opposite. His "personal, private choice" is only relevant in that it gave them one more reason to cut his lazy ass. Again, let me make this clear - whether he smoked weed or not isn't the issue here - he didn't put in the work to stay on an NFL roster. He got cut. Period. Like you said, it if were Watt caught with Adderall (or in Roidhead Cushing's case) the team is willing to get over it becasue those guys bust their ass to be outstanding football players. I blasted him for being out of shape, unmotivated, and lazy. Not for smoking a blunt. He got cut for being out of shape, unmotivated, and lazy. Not for being a pothead who's an exceptional athlete who brings something to the team. See the difference between the 2 things? If he were good at his job, they'd be bending over backward to accommodate and keep him, regardless if he indulged in weed, Adderall, Roids, or black tar heroin.
http://deadspin.com/report-texans-rookies-were-released-for-smoking-weed-1450030135 I just saw the above article on Deadspin about it. The last paragraph about sums up why they were cut. The team never mentioned weed for legal reasons. Specifically so that they couldn't file a grievance with the union and claim that they didn't follow the proper procedure for drug offenses. Its not called or handled as a "drug" offense, even though "sources" have reasoned that 3 grown men making 6 figure salaries in a hotel bathroom sharing a single "cigar" is a bit of an unusual way to enjoy tobacco when it's perfectly legal for them to sit outside where smoking is allowed and enjoy 3 separate cigars since they can all certainly afford their own.
Maybe they should start their own football league in Uruguay? http://front.kinja.com/uruguay-will-sell-marihuana-at-only-1-per-gram-1449651597
do you think ex tigers like Montgomery and Minter feel shitty for leaving LSU after what they see on the field now? probably a dumb question after they cash that first check.
Nope. I think we as fans may wish they'd stayed another year, but I doubt they do. They did their part to help their school and moved on when a good opportunity presented itself. The only ones who might feel any regrets would be Juniors who leave early and don't get drafted at all or who get drafted and cut and never signed with a team.
I like the mind altering substances as much as anyone, believe you me. However, I would have to strongly consider leaving it in the bottle/bag if there was a multi-million $ deal at hand......he will realize it in a decade or so I'd imagine......
