Yes, and it was very gay. On another note, the wide receivers sucked last night. Every single one of them let at least one ball hit them in the hands and they dropped it. EVERY last one of them. Drew should have chewed their ass (although I know he wouldn't). Defense looked really good, though. Like one of you said earlier, get Hartley going and get the WR's going and we will play in another Super Bowl.|lombardi|
Great first game of the season. We played the best front 7 in football so not totally surprised by the lack of offense. Hartley makes his first kick and meachem makes the catch for a td and we put up 24. So we are not far from clicking. Now to the great news. We had been hearing how this defense should be better in year 2 of the Gregg Williams era. We are witnessing just that. We held Peterson in check and the genius cover 2 zone by GW confused Brett Favre most of the night. Ellis looks to be having his breakout year. Ayodele appears to be so much more stout in the middle. Brown is already paying dividends in the run defense as well. And Malcolm Jenkins is making us forget all about Darren Sharper being on the PUP list. Harper is heading to his 2nd pro bowl if last night was any indication. Porter and Greer might be the best corner duo in the NFL. Brett favre was only 4 of 12 to his 4 wideouts, and one those was Camarillo's 29 yard grab vs Randall Gay.
Exactly. Good to know that the offense doesn't have to score 40pts to win a game. And, to hold one of the league premier backs, who gouged us just 8 months ago, to under 100yrd rushing and {b]0[/b] TDs is very encouraging. I think the D could actually be a strength of the team this year. I do disagree that we had Favre confused though. Dude has seen just about every defense known to man. Once we made the adjustment and put Harper on Shiancone, none of the WRs could get any kind of separation from our lockdown corners. That, and Favre looked tired in the 2nd half. I doubt he has anywhere near the season he did a year ago.
I actually think the Packers run away with that division. Vikes may not even make the playoffs. Possible 9-7 type season for them.
I had the vikes pegged for 9-7 this season due to their tough schedule and favre not being able to duplicate last season
Got downtown around 10am. Tailgaiting was in full swing already. We were in the quarter all day till game time. The kids got to do all of the NFL experience stuff and we saw Dave Mathews. Watched the parade then headed to the dome. On the way, we stopped in Arby's for a quick sandwich. Two chicks threw down like nobody's business. They got kicked out, we quickly finished food, then headed on to the dome. On the way, same two girls went at it again. Haley and Emma were a little freaked out. Comic relief ensued when we saw one of the chick's entire weave on the sidewalk. Got to the game after the start, midway through the first quarter. Great seats, raucous crowd. I am just getting my voice back. Didn't get a single pic though as my camera battery died right after we got in the dome. The kids have decided that we need to get season tickets for the Saints and the Tigers. I really need to work on their concept of money. Traffic was actually not bad since we got their in the morning and parked at the casino. By the time we walked back to get the car, things were moving pretty well. It rained a little bit during the afternoon, but it didn't seem to dampen any spirits. I got a lot of pics of the NFL experience in the quarter, I'll post some of them tomorrow. The parade was pretty ho-hum, but since it was the kids' first in NOLA, they loved it. Weird thing, all of the beads that they threw were individually packaged. Pretty weird seeing packets of beads flying instead of the loose ones.
