I went to the game and the Texans fans were pumped for a Sat night game against the well respected Saints that beat them handily the last two preseasons. A. Johnson & Foster were making their debuts and there was a lot of emphasis on getting their first unit some confidence.

This Texans teams reminds me a lot of the Saints Super Bowl team. They have an offense that has put up a lot of yards over the past few seasons with a 1st yr veteran Def Coordinator and upgraded personnel. It will definitely be a battle in Nola in about a month and this game may give the Saints that extra focus to get the W.

Maybe they'll even meet a 3rd time in Indy for the SB. The Saints would have the Indy connection from beating them in SB44 and the Texans would have it from looking up at Indy in the division standings for the past decade.

Are you saying that the Saints staff intentionally put less of a focus on the Texans preseason game to help them win the regular season game in a month? If so, I'll at least agree that the Saints weren't going to show their entire hand with areas they can exploit in a real game. I think the Texans used this game to display more wrinkles and build confidence.

    I'll go with that.

    A little trivia:

Can you name the College football team, that has the sons of two NFL head coaches, playing for them?

Just saw the answer at the same time as the question but wouldn't have known it anyway. One of the key decisions in the off-season for the Texans was not bringing Vonta Leach (FB) back and letting the younger James Casey from Rice take over at FB.

Given the other moves the Texans made, I agreed with the FB decision. Now your trivia question makes me wonder if the Kubiak-Rice connections made the decision more of a "heart vs head" situation. Losing the powerful run blocker/team leader that paved the way for the leading rusher last season is typically something that would get criticized. Everyone seems to love Casey but FB is a position that would be tough to make it through a full season.
