Just a poor game from the get-go. Offense, defense, special teams, coaching. It was a bad day. 3:45 to play, and I don't think we will get the ball back. Drew's TD pass streak is done.
2012 Saints = Team Schizo. Looks like one of the most dominant teams in the NFL one week. Looks like one of the worst teams in the NFL the next week. Even if this team makes the playoffs (PLAYOFFS????), look for an early exit.
Even with a more respectable final score, certainly not indicative of how poorly the Saints played today. Go get 'em next week! Saintslogo
The 2011 Saints are more like the Indy Colts than people would like to believe. This is a "one-man team", and that man is Drew Brees. The Defense is mediocre in every sense of the word. They can't stop a strong running game. There are times when they do not appear to have the desire to make a Tackle. They cannot shut down a good passing game. Like the Colts defense, the Saints defense must play with a lead and can serve as a speed bump with hopes of slowing down the opposing offense for long enough to allow The One-Man Team to win the game, i.e. Drew Brees. The Saints Offense: no running game. Not even a mediocre running attack. The One-Man Team must throw the ball in order to have a prayer of getting a 1st Down, much less a TD. When the Saints passing game can be made to sputter, Saints will lose 31 - 21 or something like that. I see more weaknesses in the 2011 Saints than strengths, at this point in the season. If the 2011 Saints win the NFC South, it will be because of Drew Brees. The rest of the roster does not match up well with many roster spots on other teams in the NFC South.
Saints have some glaring holes that show up from time to time. They have the most overrated OL in the NFL this season. No holes to run and can't stop the rush on the outside. The power running game in short yardage does not exist. The free agent losses have hurt more than they thought they would. The DL is abysmal! For the 3rd straight game I didn't hear a DT's name mentioned after the player introductions. You could put blocking sleds in at DT and there would be no change. Same goes for all DE's other than Will Smith. Jordan has been a non factor so far. There is a serious lack of talent on the DL. I really liked the FA pickups, but am even more happy that they only signed them for one year. If Drew Brees has done one negative thing since he's been a Saint it's make a below average WR group look pretty good. With less time to throw this season and no running game those WR's are getting exposed. Every other WR besides Colston would have trouble finding the field on most other NFL teams. Take away Drees and put just an average QB in his place and the Saints are a below .500 team. With him they should get in as a wild card but won't last long. Saints need to do much much better in FA next year.
Didn't the Saints trade away some draft picks in order to move up for the purpose of drafting Ingram? Who is the genius that made THAT personnel decision, given that it's quite clear now that the Saints are not very good in the trenches, on BOTH sides of the ball?
