Both the college and pro football games are reaching a level of incompetence in the Officiating department that will challenge the quality of the game. There is NO consistency in the manner in which these Unsportsmanlike, Roughing and Unnecessary Roughness penalties are called. Saints receiver just got a helmet to helmet smash no-call. The receiver was completely defenseless, and, no call. It was third down, so, a penalty there would have kept the drive going and most likely resulted in Saints points. The game, in my view, is losing some legitimacy because of the seemingly random manner in which this type of penalty is called and not called. It's becoming more of a game of chance because of the Officiating, and that is terrible for the game.
You're not kidding. A blocked punt?? Both the OL and defense needs to wake up before they get humiliated.
Drew Brees will have to win the game single-handedly, as usual. You know that the Saints defense is not capable of stopping most NFL offenses, when that offense plays mistake-free football. This is a trend going back to the Seattle playoff game last year. It's clear to the whole world that if you stop Drew Brees, you beat the Saints. So, in THIS particular football game, it is the Saints OFFENSE that is losing the game, and the Special Teams is helping. The Saints DEFENSE is it's usual self -- mediocre, and currently about to give up more points after that Drew Brees interception. The Saints are essentially a "One-Man Team", and that one man is Drew Brees. As for your comment that the Saints need a new D Coordinator. That's not the problem. I believe that the problem is that the Saints need better PERSONNEL on defense. The personnel that we currently have are getting old, or, never were very good to begin with. OK, Saints are down 17 to nothing now. That's three scores down, so, it will be difficult to come back. The Saints Defense incapable of getting the stop or holding to a FG, NOT because of scheme, but, simply because the personnel aren't good enough to get the job done. Not good enough for the playoffs. Not right now.
Well, that half makes my annual investment on Sunday Ticket look like a fcuking joke. Nice job against a crappy winless team boys.
