The Saints showed a bit more passion to win in this game... a good sign. They got lucky on the reception call that was reviewed. Greenbay fans were booing every other play, kinda reminding me of LSU fans 2 seasons ago. I don't know, I think Kromer was right in his comments, the Saints are improving; but they're also getting pretty lucky. Defense looked much better this game than they have since the first game. That could have been the difference. I have a feeling they'll eek out a win against the 3-1 Chargers this week.
Ya know, I always felt that way until 2009. From 2009 to 2011 I didn't feel that way. It was the opposite. I felt like somehow someway, we'd win. It's bringing up alot of old horrible feelings what's going on now. I'd forgotten how awful it was to be a Saints' fan over the previous 3 years. Shows me how great we had it over the past few seasons.
I never saw this game as a win, even when I was at my most optimistic before the season. But....maybe I'm crazy, but I did see improvement in this game. There is a long way to go in a number of areas (we are going to struggle to close out any victory if the running game doesn't improve), but the fact that we held GB scoreless for 34 minutes on their home field tells me the defense can come around. Considering we're 0-4, a .500 season now looks about as good as it will get, but it no longer looks like a total collapse (4 wins or less) to me.
I'm crazier then you because I still think the Saints can make the playoffs. Look at it like this, most of the teams in the NFC are 2-2 after 4 weeks, so we're only 2 games back in the wild card chase. Of course, Sunday night game against the Chargers is a MUST win, but every game since the opening game loss to Wash has been a 'must' win.
