Passing game is looking better today. But....we can't run the ball for shit (9 attempts, 16 yards), and Rodgers has enough time to hard-boil an egg in the pocket.
Out of all the losses this year, that one hurt the worst. Oh well, had Hartley made the kick, there's still 3+ minutes left, so Rodgers would have driven them down in plenty of time for a FG or TD anyway so... Have you ever noticed that - of all the things that had to go wrong on the Saints last possession (Sproles drop on 3rd down, Thomas holding penalty, Hartley miss), those kinds of things only happen to the Saints? We had to have 3 different things go wrong for us not to get points on that drive and everyone of them happened. Has there ever been a more snakebitten franchise? I mean, this kind of thing happens all the time to this team. Remember the game against Jacksonville back in '02 or '03 where they had a Cal/Stanford play and scored with no time left and all they had to do was kick an xp tp tie it and Carney flat out missed? It wasn't blocked, he actually missed and xp and prevented the Saints from possibly going to the playoffs. Only us.
Up until the end, I am pretty sure the GB fans were all thinking how badly the refs had screwed them. A lot of calls went our way today.
It was a good effort that came up short. I thought they mailed it in already, but they tried. Now I fully expect them to be done. Moral has gotta be at an all time low after this one...
after the penalty for holding on David Thomas I would have sent Brees back out on the field. He was money on third down. With all the time that was left, I would have played for a touchdown, especially being in Green Bay, and being 0-3.
Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda... Sounds familiar to lifelong Saints fans. One more thing, Hartley is a freakin' head case. I don't think he's hit a clutch kick since the NFC championship or Super Bowl. I don't know why in the world they kept him instead of Casey.
