I agree, this guy can play all three positions at LB. I also hear we are meeting with Rod Hood tommorow, we do that and get a Randy McMicheal and a WR we will be set for the draft.

What I like about the Simmons signing is that he is a natural MLB. He's not a player that has to learn a new position, which is a typical Saints move. I guess Payton really is changing this organization.

I also heard that Eric Johnson was coming in. He would be a definite upgrade, but I would rather McMichael.

Another note, according to NFL Radio, Eric Johnson is a good TE when he is healthy. They say they have some concerns about his durability. A TE with injury problems, sound familiar?????

They are both very good receiving TE's. I like Eric Johnson b/c he is like having another receiver on the field (i.e. Antonio Gates). We all know that Brees LOVES a great receiving TE. If you look at his stats, two years ago EJ had something like 82 catches for over 800 yards. I guess his durability would be a question. I would be happy w/ either one.

If these fall through maybe the Saints will use there first pick to pick up a TE. I thought they would go defense with their 1st pick but with these free agent additons and more to come shortly that might change.

Rivals has a new mock draft out with us taking TE Zach Miller from Arizona St. He is a great recieving TE that LSU had problems with, he could be the future Gates.

My guess would be that if they get the defensive players they want before the draft they will pick the best athlete available on the board regardless of position. SP has mentioned several times that this is what he likes to do.

This is a really weak year for TE. The only good one worthy of a high pick is Olsen from Miami. He'll be gone by the time the Saints draft. The Saints should go with best defensive player available.
