...or possibly Chase Daniel. Both QBs are highly skilled in the type of offense the Saints employ. With a few years of training in Payton's system, I believe either one of them could be an adequate replacement for Drew Brees. Thoughts?
I think either fits the mold of Brees. Very accurate, very cerebral, great pocket passers that are extremely effective in a well thought out system. If I were Payton, I would take a flyer on either one of them.
1. The Saints' offense isn't that much like TTech's. More like Missou. 2. The Saints have limited amount of draft picks. Taking someone who would maybe replace Drew Brees in 5-6 years is way down on the totem pole. If they can be had as undrafted free agents, sure. But for a team with limited draft picks, no chance. You have Joey Harrington who's a decent backup for the time being.
I can live with that. I just see two QBs who seem to be specially designed for the Saint's offense...which we all know would not click without DB. The chances of them being available as free agents - should we still want them - when we start looking seem to be pretty good, though. I believe Payton and his system can revive their careers after they fizzle in a more pro-oriented system.
I'm just glad I wasn't pegged as insane for the very idea! I mean, I know we need new safeties and all, but we keep going to the Drew Brees well and one day it's going to dry up.
What? Here we go again AT, what is it with your fixation on QBs. The Saints new DBs and linebackers. They need to concentrate on defense. Look what Cromartie did for Arizona this year. We need a great corner. you know I am going to mess with you from here on out on the QB situations.
What if - somehow - either one of them was still available late in the second day? I think this is possible based on the "system" label and the flop of Colt Brennan.
brees hasnt even turned 30. just seems like hes been playing for 15 years. if the saints took one of these qbs they would only be developing them for another team.
it doesn't matter if it's the 7th round. You have to take what you need in the immediate future. a 7th round pick landed Colston, right?
