NFC South - 6 games (home and away vs Tampa Bay, Atlanta and Carolina) AFC East - 4 games (home vs New England and NY Jets, away vs Buffalo and Miami) NFC East - 4 games (home vs Dallas and NY Giants, away vs Philadelphia and Washington) Others - 2 games (home vs Detroit, away vs St. Louis) So basically, the Saints get the easiest teams in Detroit and St. Louis since they were last in the division. The actual schedule as far as when the games will be played will not be decided for a several weeks.
holy crap. bad news for the saints. probably 3-3 in conference lucky if they go 3-5 against the tough non-division teams dallas/giants/phili/wash 1-3 ne/jets/buff/miami 2-2 if lucky 1-1 against detroit and st louis take the under on their win total which will be around 9 7-9 this is likely the toughest schedule in the nfl. may as well play them all in london.
I don't think that's far-fetched at all. The offense should be intact and regardless of who they have in the backfield, the questions they had this year (Will Deuce play? Is Deuce hurt? Is Deuce going to be suspended? Why don't they use Deuce on 3rd and short, etc.) should be answered. The defense can only get better. I think Williams will look like a genius or be considered a local hero if he just moves the Saints defense into the top half of the NFL this year. We were 23rd in yardage allowed (339.5), 23rd in passing yards allowed (221.7), 17th in run defense (117.8), 22nd in sacks (28), and 26th in scoring defense (24.6/ppg). We only need a few more players and a few to return to good health to reduce our opponents' scoring enough to get a few more wins. Remember...we also lost two games due to the kicking situation. That seems to have been resolved. I hope the national media and other teams take the Saints lightly. They may surprise a few people.
Yes, that's the first thing I thought of when looking at the schedule. Please be in September/October. Hopefully Philly will win it all this year and suffer from a Super Bowl hangover.
4-2 vs division will be really hard. 2-2 against the NFC East will be really hard. I do think the Saints will have a good year next year, though. The schedule makers didn't do them favors. This was the year for the South playing the 2 worst divisions the AFC West and the NFC North. (that's why teams like the Panthers and Falcons had fat records only to get exposed in the playoffs).
Well then you have the Saints going 8-8 at best. Something's gotta give with those 2 stances you just took.
Good year for the Saints, that is. Take what you can get when you are the worst franchise of all-time.
