SF stands by his statement. I'm not impressed with Payton. He seems to coach with a hint of immaturity. I don't think he's ready for Prime Time. If Bush hadn't gotten hurt, he'd still be trying to make a tailback out of him. A reverse with the game in hand? He could have mixed in a few field goals yesterday and been right there with a chance to win the game. Then again, the Saints will always suck so they might as well let him learn on the job.

in fairness, the Cowboys offense DID get better after he left, so you might be on to something.

    time will tell.

I dunno, anybody else get the feeling the saints are sinking back into that old mediocrity grove. This season felt like mid to late hasslet, hovering around .500, outside shot at playoffs, the only difference is that the O is spectacular (stat-wise anyway) and the D is suspect. I dont see us doing better that 9-7 next year.

P.S. If we get a decent set of corners in the off season, +3 in the win column. -2 if deuce retires and bush has to carry the load himself.

I think the Saints will make much better moves in the offseason and realize that they MUST get impact players on D (not just "add depth").

They will probably go after a LB and/or DB in FA, draft an LB/DB, get a pass rushing DE and NOT sign Will Smith (he's a dud).

The offense scored around 25 a game (much like in 06), and that should be enough to win most games. Hopefully Meachem pans out, that would make the passing game that much more effective. Devery Henderson won't be a Saint next season, and rightfully so since he sucks huge donkey balls.

    considering he:

    a. is coming off his 2nd surgery
    b. looked slow as hell, even when healthy when he did play this year
    c. is playing for a team who has Pierre Thomas

I'd think the only way he is back is if he is released and then signed back for less money.

I wouldn't pay that much to someone who is at best, just a bonus.

If anything, he'll restructure his contract, because that's the type of guy he is (not Joe Horn) and he understands the business side of it. Even then, I see them giving him a year before asking him to redo his deal. Sean Payton has said on numerous occasions that Deuce will still be a part of this team.

I heard Mike and Mike talking to Chad Johnson this morning on the radio. Sounds like he's not very happy with his current situation. Do you think the Saints might make a run at him this offseason?

Chad is not an UFA and the only thing the Bengals would want for him are DB's (or defense), and the Saints aint got none.
