assuming there is a season, of course. New Orleans Saints will open the season against the Green Bay Packers | NOLA.com
I think the schedule sets up nicely for the Saints. No trips to the West Coast, so no jet lag games. Five of 8 road games in domes, assuming the Metrodome is ready. If so, then only the December game at Tennessee looms as a possible cold weather game, and that shouldn't be bad. The Minnesota game would be tough (mid-December) if their Dome is not ready. After the Green Bay opener, the toughest non-division games (Indy, Chicago, Houston) are at home. Four of the last six at home. If we stay healthy and improve on defense, the schedule is in our favor. edit: Forgot that we travel to St. Louis, which will be a tough, but definitely winnable, game.
Can't believe the schedule makers didn't choose a Packers-Bears rematch from last year's NFCCG. Much like Saints-Vikes to start 2010. I felt there is some "unfinished business" there with Cutler's injury, plus it's the most played rivalry in all of pro football. That's three outta five now for the Saints being in the kickoff special. We kept the streak going last year as far as defending champs winning the kickoff game. Let's see if we can become the first team to knock off the defending champs in the kickoff game.
Always a good grudge match, but they play twice a year. Its not often you get the chance to match up the two previous Super Bowl champs. Plus you're getting a great QB face off in Brees vs Rodgers.
