With the impending signing of DB Jason David of Indy, the Saints have successfully addressed the need positions of DB, FS/SS, MLB and TE this offseason.

I'm not sold on Patten addressing the WR position, although he might end up being the perfect complement to Colston.

As expected, Payton/Loomis bringing in their type of high-character, team leader guys that will only make this Saints team that much better in 07.

Now the Saints can focus on getting the best player available come round 1, or even trade up/down as they see fit. Don't be surprised to see the Saints address DT or DE for that first pick.

Other than Dwayne Bowe (and obviously CJohnson), I am not sold on any other WR coming out of the first round. I doubt seriously Bowe will fall to 27.

My prediction: the Saints trade down about 10 spots into the high part of the 2nd round in exchange for a very solid veteran (not old, but experienced) #2 receiver. And we still end up with the player we want with our first draft pick.

I mainly agree with what you posted but Patten is a whiney cry baby and I dont think he is a team leader type. He's left some ugly foot prints at his previous stops.

I see the Saints taking 1 of the 4 CBs if they drop to the Saints. If not I can see them taking DE Jarvis Moss from Florida. I hope to see them take a WR with the 2nd pick. Maybe Craig Davis or Sidney Rice if he falls that far.

david is 5'8" i don't know if he's the answer at corner but he's godd enough to give the saints flexibility if they decide not to go corner in the 1st two rounds.

but i agree, payton has definitely looked to address the glaring needs. its moves like this that make me excited to see what they'll do on draft day. especially on the 1st day.

David is a good CB and it looks like Indy will not be able to match the offer because of the high payments in his 1st 2 years with the Saints and salary cap issues of Indy. That means the Saints will have to give up one of their 3 4th round picks. I like the pick up.

I just love the fact that we are getting this guy (David) in the prime of his career.

Did the Colts fail to match his offer?
