Lots of Saints fans pissed about the way our defense is playing.

    Here are some #'s:

    Saints: #1 Offense - # 27 Defense
    Pats: #2 Offense - #32 Defense
    Packers: #4 Offense - #31 Defense

    Combined record: 30-6

I heard these numbers last week and was suprised. I think they were #25, #30, and #32 last week so collectively they've dropped. :hihi:

You would almost think the three defenses would be a little higher/better just simply by the fact they practice against such good offenses.

I bet none of our defensive players will want to use stats in their next contract negotiations.

Now is it our players or our scheme that makes our defense weak? Or do we have to run our heavy blitzing packages because of our players? If we could just have a medium speed defense, we'd blow away everyone.

The head ball coach is an O guy, so don't expect much. The whole idea behind our D is to get the ball back to the O, and stop people when we need to. Maybe keep them to a field goal here and there but don't expect a number one D with our players and our scheme.

Look at Indy D, its pretty much the same concept. Everything is built around a high scoring O, with that the D doesn't have to be world beaters, just needs to give the O a few more chances at scores than the other team and win.

The Saints spend quite a bit of money on the Defense to have the 27th ranked D in the league.

I'll bet that the money that the Saints D makes does not rank 27th.

Saints need to clean house on that side of the ball including Greg Williams, and draft nothing but D players for the next 3 years.

Just win, baby. I saw some good defense today. Exellent run defense on Johnson. A couple of missed tackles could have changed the game. In the NFL, take the win and laugh all the way home.

Shut down Chris Johnson and held them to 17 points. Gave up yardage, but two huge stops with their backs to the wall in the fourth quarter. Not a bad day in my book. If the refs hadn't blown the call on the Graham touchdown, and we don't hold on the Sproles punt return, its a blowout.

    My thoughts exactly.

However, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about the missed tackles. That led to several big plays, including one of the Titan's TD. Hopefully, that's something we can shore up going forward.
