Yep...:thumb: Carolina is on our schedule twice this year. Chicago...ZERO Also...(like you said)...it's doubtful we'll meet the Bears in the playoffs next season.
Yeah I saw the list on NFL.com earlier but no one imo is worth a 3rd rd pick especially with this upcoming draft..anybody in particular you like
Ray Edwards would probably be the best value out of all of those. So no, the Saints will not be taking from this DE crop. Would not be shocked to see Charleston get resigned, just as a backup for depth.
At $460,000 they probably wont find anyone cheaper. Not sure how much potential he has though, do you think he is any more than a warm body? Didn't hear much of him this season and his stats don't tell you much.
I just can't see this team going in with just 2 DEs signed and a couple of draft picks or free agents fresh out of college.
Yeah I thought about Ray untill I heard he was tendered for a 1st rd...but I wonder if he would want to come to us if he could.
Yes, on paper that doesn't sound too good. However Grant really didn't do much, it's not like you're replacing a productive player. Even if the young guys need a couple of years to make an impact would it really be a step back from what we had? The Saints aren't in a great position to add a bunch of impact players with the free agent rule they fall under, but some of the positions on the D wouldn't exactly need a pro bowler to call it a step up. I think a quality player here and there and a second year under Greg Williams could mean solid improvement by the D. I wouldn't expect a league leading D next year, but it's not like we really need it either. It would be nice, but just isn't going to happen with so many holes to fill and so few options. The Saints obviously go with a DE at #1 or #2 in the draft unless something unforeseen happens and someone falls in there lap before draft day. A quality DE and a quality DT or impact LB could really make a difference. Depth will probably be a problem at LB and DL regardless.
If the Saints lose Sharper, that will open the doors for them to chase down a decent UFA DE like Jarvis Green, Adewale Ogunleye or Reggie Hayward.
At 34 I don't see a ton of teams beating down his door, especially if he's looking for a big pay raise. He admits he only has "a couple good years left". I don't see him getting a big payday although I may be wrong. So if he doesn't get a big offer why would he leave New Orleans? He knows the system and has as good a chance as any to make it back to the Super Bowl with the Saints. i think the chances of him signing with N.O. again are good unless the Saints find someone better late in the draft.
Giants, Dolphins and Bears have shown interest. Giants signed Rolle, so they are out. It's down to whether the Dolphins or Bears really want him for whatever price tag it may take. I think Sharper will give the Saints a shot at matching or at least coming close to matching and he will stay. He knows that GW's system is what is best for him going forward. The record of 81 interceptions is within reach if he really does play 3 years like he said he would like to play. That's 6 interceptions a year.
