i was disappointed we didnt get it on 3rd and walked out. then saw we got it on 4th. did peyton manning have the record prior?
4o first downs is obviously the stat of the night, but defensively, we held them to under 200 total yards (193), barely 100 yards passing (104), and they were 0-9 on 3rd down. Total domination on both sides of the ball. Edit: Oh yeah, and Dez Bryant only had one catch!
Interesting....34 of 41 for 392, 4 TDs, 0 int and 83% complete In the one "perfect" game I know he's had - vs New England in 09 - he was 18 of 23 for 371 and 5 TDs, 78% complete. But, averaged better than 20 yards a completion in that game, only about 11.5 tonight.
More amazing stats: 80 yard TD drive. 80 yard TD drive. 52 yard TD drive. 75 yard TD drive. 92 yard TD drive. 83 yard TD drive. 78 yard TD drive. The Saints only had 4 drives that didn't lead to a TD. 1st drive - Punt 6th drive - End of half 7th drive - Missed FG 11th drive - End of game New NFL record with 40 first downs.
Actually, that's not right. We didn't end the half with the ball, we scored with :05 left and kicked off. It should be 6th drive, missed field goal; 10th drive, end of game.
Pro Football Focus has a stat called Adjusted Accuracy Rating. They take into account dropped balls and batted balls at the line of scrimmage (take out the batted balls and adjust for dropped balls as if they would have been caught instead). Drew Brees adjusted accuracy rating in this game was 38-39, or 97.4 %. (4 dropped passes, 2 batted balls)
Brees averaged 9.6 tonight and you need to average 12.5 yards per pass attempt to have a perfect game.
