Losing Deuce in the early part of the season is what really set the tone for this season. Reggie was never expected to be a feature back and Stecker was merely a role player, though he had some great performances. I really like what I saw out of Pierre Thomas today, though. But back to Deuce, I think he provided that spark needed for our offense, to the point where our offense would've been good enough to make up for our pathetic excuse for a defense. Which brings me to my next point: defense. Horrible is putting it lightly. There just aren't any playmakers, really. Starting up front, we need a dominant DLineman. Grant and Smith show flashes of excellence at times, but they end up hurting us as well. Thomas is too fat and Young is too small. The linebackers really need revamping across the board, Scott Fujita aside. Personally, I think he's our best defensive player. But what he may lack in skill as compared to other LBs, he makes up in the fact that goes all out until the whistle. CB and S are self-explanatory. We need to clean house there. McKenzie is becoming old and washed up, David is a joke, our backups aren't much better (though Young has some promise). Josh Bullocks sucks and as for Roman Harper, I say give him another year, since this was technically his rookie season after blowing out his knee early last season. This team is really 3-4 solid defensive guys from being a dominant force in the NFL. Sadly, I don't think one offseason is going to remedy that.
I did not believe that the Saints could beat the Bears at Soldier Field. I do believe that the New Orleans Saints are years away from being a consistent winner -- emphasize the "s" on the word YEARS. The Saints have a handful of good/great players on the roster -- and after that -- very weak roster. BUT, that's what happens when your First Round Draft Pick at WR never plays a single down. Way to go, Saints . . . you're 7-9 . . . and Home for the Holidays. . . AGAIN.
So you're telling me that Adelman is a better coach than Van Gundy??? Enjoy it...Blazer and Kings fans sure didn't like him that much.
I am telling you that he is, yes... He is (before this season) 752-481 in 16 seasons with Portland, Golden State and Sac. In those 16 seasons, he made it past the 1st round 7 times and made it to the conference finals 4 times and to the NBA finals 2 times. So that's a 60% win percentage. Van Gundy, on the other hand, in 11 seasons is 430-318. So that's a 57% win percentage. In those 11 seasons, he made it past the 1st round 5 times made it to the conference finals two times and to the NBA finals one time. Looks like Rick trumps him in every category to me, buddy.
Oh well, enjoy Adelman and good luck trying to get into the playoffs...Spurs will be waiting...Of course, I think that the Rockets will end up like the saints, just a tad under .500 and not enough to make it to the playoffs.
Bottom line, the Rockets have been a sorry organization since their back to back championships, and they only got those because MJ took pity on the West and allowed them to win those titles. TMac is a pussy and is injury prone (back, hang nail, etc). Yao Ming is the biggest pussy of all in the NBA, he gets dunked on by 5' 8" point guards.
T-Mac is my favorite player, but yes, he is injury prone times 100. But who cares if Yao gets dunked on? What's the difference between getting dunked on and giving up a hook shot? Dikembe Mutumbo has been dunked on the most times in NBA history, and no one calls him a pussy. Bottom line is that Yao averages 21 and 11, and he is one of the 3 top big-men in the NBA behind just Dwight Howard and Duncan and possibly Amare. Do I think he would be dominant if it weren't for his height? Heck no I don't, but it is what it is... he IS 7'5, so there's nothing we can do about it.
Good call, bubba. (I just pulled this up to show ISL my stance on Adelman being we discussed it in another thread).
