If accurate, I really don't understand this. Not really my idea of 'help' at the LB position. Unathletic and plagued with injuries, how does this make them better? The Pats just offered him a contract. They like washed up LBs. Let them have him. LINK
Seriously? Zach Thomas has been a warrior, and this last year was really the only time he has missed over his career. He consistently has 150 tackles and can still play. He is definitely an upgrade and wont be expensive. He hasnt shown much of a decline at all and the only reason the Dolphins cut him was to get younger and create cap space. He will still be effective for 2 or 3 more years.
That is whats wrong with the Saints now, no linebackers, no secondary. Leave the washed up guys along and go draft a couple of studs. That can be developed.
That is what is wrong with the saints. They dont pick up proven guys and draft guys. But they suck at evaluating talent and generally end up with awful draft picks. The Saints dont need a pro bowler at LB. They need a guy that wont make mental mistakes and is solid...Zach Thomas is that. Or they can draft someone that will take a while to develop. I still cant figure out how he is washed up. I guess because people have seen him around for a while. He had 165 tackles a year ago.
TB3, he has been a great player for a while, but this guy is coming off a season from a bad concussion and a bad car wreck, which he gets awful migraine headaches. He probably wouldnt play but half the season.
True, and he has talked about not playing until the headaches go away. Physically he is fine. I doubt anyone would sign him if the headaches are going to be a problem or arent going away.
I'd rather SabanFan, Ramah and RedElephants as my OLB, MLB, OLB combination over what the saints have. so if Zach Thomas can still breathe on his own and isn't being fed out of a tube, they need him.
ideally, still draft a LB and have him get tutored from Zach. assuming you sign him. Dallas and NE want him, too.
