The sad part about it is it's just getting started! I think it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I'm sure CBK and LSU are well aware of the landscape of recruiting and working on deals to secure players. The reality is LSU has to come up with NIL deals to compete for the top players. I hate it, but it's the reality of college football today. Truthfully, we need to remove the word college because this has absolutely nothing to do with academics and learning!
And that is what was brought up. There were no "rules" but from what I understood the NIL was supposed to be in line with what someone would be paid to do a commercial or something along those lines. Instead its turned into 5 or 6 figure deals and there is no way to reel it in. Most of them aren't even NIL but boosters funneling money. The bag man is now strutting around holding a sign and no one to stop him.
It's absolutely out of control, but can it be controlled at this point. The NCAA can step in and put in some lame rule, but the players (and now agents) know the amount of money that is out there and they're going to want to get their fair share of the pie. The sad part is that it's just getting started. I can now see players holding these ridiculous commitment ceremonies and holding up large checks like they give out when you win Publisher's Clearing House!
I think you got something there. It’s going to happen so why not be 1st. Hope you past your idea on to CBK.
I guess from now on we're not going to see hats on the table, but checks! Sound ridiculous, but when there are no rules, anything goes!
