To be honest, I really don't know. I do know that it was the Lafayette hospital that blew it, though. He went in before he died and they told him he just had a stomach virus and sent him home. And when he went back, it was too late.
need to know if its bacterial or viral. bacterial can often be treated with antibiotics. with viral, there's little that can be done. and there are numerous bacteria and viruses that can cause meningitis (this just means infection of the meninges-area around spinal cord), but there are usual culprits
I did a story on this (meningitis) a few years back. Gumborue is right, viral is way different than bacterial, and can often be fatal (whereas bacterial is very seldom serious).
