Sad Day - LSU Student Dies

    Just got a text from TheAdvocate that a LSU student who has yet to be identified died of meningitis last night. Sad Sad Day.

    She was a student worker last semester for us. Started feeling sick Monday. Dean of students has been contacting some of us this morning, asking if we'd been around her lately. Sad indeed. :(

    The state needs to make it mandatory for every college student to take the shot.

    Seems like a small price to pay for this problem to be totally eliminated.

    I took it before I enrolled. Maybe it was because I lived on campus.

    I took it but by choice.

    I do not live on campus. That may be the difference.

    But either way, they should make it a rule.

    When I enrolled you had to get a shot if you lived in a dorm. I do not know what the rules are now. A ULL student died last year from the same thing.

    Well, not totally. Most forms are preventable with vaccines. However, there are some rare strains of bacterial meningitis which are not preventable. Definitely a no-brainer to get the available vaccines though.
